In the Milky Way
A song about the inability to feel like you fit in this crazy world and eventually transcending to joy by becoming one with the universe.

On April 16 2013, my oldest brother, Pete died of bile duct and liver cancer. This was not the first person in my immediate family to die from cancer. Both my parents and sister in law also died from this devastating disease, but there was something about my brother's swift and untimely death that seemed to throw an internal switch inside me. After pursuing a career in music in the early part of my life, I had not played music for over 25 years when my brother died. Suddenly I was motivated to play and write again. I dusted off the only guitar I kept for all those years, and began playing and writing again. It was not long afterward that I wrote this song, Can I Carry You Home, and soon realized it was written with my brother in mind. With the help of my longtime friend and soundman, Leo Valentino we recorded the song in my home studio where we finished it in January of 2017. So this one is dedicated to you Pete.
It's also in memory of all those who have fought the battle against cancer and lost. If you would like the name of a friend or loved one added to the list below, please send their full name and the type of cancer they so courageously battled against through my contact page. I would be honored to add it. And please share this song with anyone who you think might receive even a small amount of comfort from listening to it.
A special thanks to Tracy Slider and Paige Walton for enhancing this song with their vocal talents.

Recording a Song From demo to final mix |
How this song was recorded: They Don't Know You by I Am Winkle, aka Mark Minassian
|
While recording They Don't Know You at D.W. Fearn Studios in 2017, video was shot of all the recording sessions. The session musicians besides myself were George Hazelrigg on keyboards, Geoff Hazelrigg on standup bass, and Andy Vernon on percussion. I played guitar and performed all the vocals. D.W. then assembled the many hours of footage into the following video: Recording A Song From Demo To Final Mix.
